Camp 1387 Honors their Ancestors by cleaning and maintaing the home and grave of

Confederate Veteran

William's House June 10 2016

Camp 1387 performed our work day (Friday 10 June) at Lawndale intended for only
grounds maintenance; our troops were Jim Meeks and Don Young. We worked from 9 am to
130 pm and piled about 4 yards of debris by the curb. This was only from picking up limbs, palmfronds etc. from the site and doing a detail cleaning of the narrow strip of land between the
street and the front yard fence; we didn’t even edge. We clean a bit more in some areas each
time we are on site and eventually the routine of mowing and edging will get shorter and easier
– it hasn’t happen yet though.

We thought the local Yankees were coming when we heard a loud BANG as we were getting
started. The yard cart donated by Larry Thornton had a blowout – no help there for that day, but we have new tires now and the cart will be a big help all around the site.

We will host another work day Saturday 25 June from 9 am till noon or shorter if y’all get too hotThere is running water and restroom facilities available. There are jobs inside the house as wellwhere it is cooler and easier for those who can’t do the yard stuff. Yes, it is hot and hard work,
but very rewarding. Y’all come!
